While four names will appear on the Westminster mayoral ballot for the November 8, 2016 General Election, only two candidates are actually campaigning for the position: Mayor Tri Ta and Council Member Margie Rice. However, the two-term mayor is dominating the former mayor on the money front. According to their latest Form 460 financial reports:
- Total Raised in Year 2016: $56,017
- Total Spent in Year 2016: $36,168.24
- Cash on Hand: $111,964.28
Note: Tri Ta began 2016 with a sizable war chest when he carried unused campaign money from the 2014 election cycle over to this year. With that kind of balance, Tri Ta have more cash on hand than some Republican state lawmakers in Orange County.
- Total Raised in Year 2016: $9,700
- Total Spent in Year 2016: $4,859.90
- Cash on Hand: $5,640.10
Note: Margie Rice just started raising money in late July after she announced her candidacy. Rice does have high name recognition in Westminster but that alone is not enough to take out a sitting mayor.
The other two candidates Visual William and Raymond De La Cerda did not file anything.
