UPDATED: Phil Janowicz Campaign Manager Resigns Amidst #MeToo Sexual Harassment Scandal

The #MeToo sexual harassment/sexual assault scandal enveloping the Orange County Democratic Party (DPOC) and the OC Labor Federation has claimed its first casualty: former DPOC Executive Director Erik Taylor has resigned as campaign manager for Phil Janowizc, who is running against GOP Representative Ed Royce in the 39th Congressional District.

Janowicz announced it on his campaign Facebook page shortly after 12:00 p.m. today:

Several woman have publicly posted allegations of sexual misconduct by Taylor toward female DPOC staff and interns during his tenure as DPOC executive director. According to an article this morning in the Voice of OC:

[OC Young Democrat President Danielle] Serbin told the Orange County Register that in 2015 at the Democratic Party headquarters, “one of the men allegedly touched a woman’s thigh, prompting her to flee to safety in a supply closet where he cornered her.”

“In other incidents, the same man allegedly pushed his body against the woman and reached under her skirt and tried to remove her underwear,” the Register reported.

UPDATE (October 20, 2017 at 4:04 p.m.): the OC Weekly has published several explicit text messages allegedly sent by Taylor to a young female DPOC intern.
