Campaign signs attacking former Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly for her September 2015 drunk driving arrest have begun appearing around the 68th Assembly District, in which Pauly is competing in the June 7 primary.
The signs blare “DUI DEBBIE PAULY” flanked by the cut lines “Can’t Be Trusted Behind The Wheel…Can’t Be Trusted In Sacramento.”
The disclosure isn’t visible in the photo sent to OC Daily by a reader, but these are most likely the work of an independent expenditure committee called the California Freedom Fund. As we reported last week , two supporters of another AD68 candidate – former Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu — created the California Freedom Fund in early May and paid $8,786 for the production and placement of anti-Pauly campaign signs (in addition to $29,079 for cable TV ads criticizing Pauly).
UPDATE (June 2): Another photo provided by a reader confirms these signs were paid for by the California Freedom Fund, according to the disclaimer printed on the front of the sign.
